Season 2!

Jeff

Hello college world!

This is Jeff Tagliaferro – your new host of “On the Quad” – and a twenty-year-old college student at Broome Community College. I am majoring in education with the hopes of becoming a Spanish teacher. I enjoy wiffleball, music, sunshine, and collecting empty toothpaste tubes. As the new host, I would like to welcome you all to “On the Quad’s” first blog of the new season…hope you enjoy!

About a year ago I was literally dragged up on a stage in front of hundreds of fellow students, and sat down in front of a camera while strange men asked me why people would want to watch me on a reality show. My answer was “I’m not ‘the man’…I’m just an average dude.” I realize now watching my audition how much of a tool I was a year ago. But something must have clicked because I was chosen, along with 5 other students, to be broadcast worldwide via iTunes to participate in one of the strangest experiences of my life.

Jeff's Skates for the First Time on "On the Quad"

In the inaugural season of the show, I made new friends, learned a lot about other students experiences and went ice skating for the first time (in which I dominated the ice). Overall I had a lot of fun, but with what we have in store for this years cast, I’m envious. Last year’s episodes were based mainly on conversing about college life, telling the audience of over 10,000, about our problems and achievements. This season will be more of a hands-on-get-out-there-and-show-the-
people-what-it’s-like-to-be-a-college-
student-at-BCC type of show. We have a whole sloo of fun and exciting challenges for our cast…A scavenger hunt across the entire campus will be aired as one of our first episodes, helping students map out where everything important around the school takes place…Going out and visiting high schools to share with future students what they have to look forward to at the college level…And a night out on the town showing off what there is to do around here, when you aren’t doing school work of course. All these activities are just a sneak peek at the new season.

But of course, nobody really knows what is going to happen yet, not until we have an actual cast to make the show as interesting as it can be. And as my duty as host to the show, I vow to keep up the interest in the case of boring cast members. So tune in and subscribe! Tell your friends, family and anybody else you can think of, “On the Quad” is something everyone can enjoy, even the Amish! Though if you are Amish, you are working against your beliefs and probably shouldn’t be reading this unless somebody copied this all by hand and sent it to you using a messenger pigeon.

So to all you internet savvy folks, watch the show (btw, you can subscribe to it at itunes.sunybroome.edu) and help this nationally acclaimed podcast grow even bigger and better.

Thanks for reading, and remember – Keep it cool, stay in school.

Talk to you soon…

Your Host, Jeff

  2. Jeff, you lucky dog! Hosting OTQ now, eh? I look forward to keeping up with the second season and wish you, as well as the new cast, much luck. I miss the show so much. If you guys ever want to come up to Cortland, whether to film or just hang out, let me know! I expect the upcoming election to be covered very well even though I’m not there to help move things along. Take care!

  4. Hello Everyone. Hola! Como estas?

Mi nombre es Doreen. I’m 17 years old and it’s my second year at BCC. I am going for Early Childhood Education, hopefully becoming an amazing bilingual teacher.

So now that you know a smigit about me-and how awesome of a student I am- here are a few of my opinions.

    A. Education majors are awesome hands down. So therefore you are awesome Mister Jeff. Rock on.

    B. On our campus people do not socialize with others randomly, or dress up for random occasions. That should be encouraged, make campus life so much more intriguing.

    C. There is not enough emphasis on clubs, I signed up for a debate club but don’t know when it starts. People should join Lingonet it’s exciting.

    D. There are fun activities on Thursday at 11:00- but seriously who has that time free- I would prefer things being on Friday because it’s right before the weekend and this way it’s not such an unavailable timeframe.

Well chao everyone, Have fun during the semester :)
